How to escape the overflow of toxins in our lives

April 18, 2022

How do we escape the overflow of toxins in our lives, whether they be mental, emotional, chemical or physical?

Simple. We support our bodies ability to adapt! This is a situation where the phrase “work smarter, not harder” is the perfect fit. I don’t know about you, but every time I hear about all the toxins we are exposed to in things like beauty products, foods, household items, and so on, I get overwhelmed and can not even begin to think about properly removing all of them from my life. The truth is, completely removing toxins from our lives is not even possible.

Instead of identifying every single toxin we encounter, it is good to consider two things:
  1. How does our body detoxify?
  1. How can we support the detoxification process?

Our bodies are dynamic and complex, using many systems to accomplish their needs. One job is to detoxify our bodies through things like our blood, our digestive system, our lymphatic system, and our respiratory systems. For all these systems to be working optimally, we need our nervous system to be working optimally. The nervous system, which is made up of the brain, spinal cord, and all our nerves, controls all other systems in our body and is what gives us the ability to adapt to our surroundings. It identifies, processes, and responds to the information it perceives externally and internally.

Although removing known toxins from our lives is a great way to detoxify, supporting our adaptation process is equally important. Two ways to help our bodies adapt to their surroundings are chiropractic adjustments and craniosacral therapy. Chiropractic adjustments are meant to be specific and intentional, removing dysfunction in the nervous system so it can effectively communicate with the rest of the body. CranioSacral therapy is a low-force technique that helps remove tension build-up along the cranial sutures that connect the cranial bones. In a similar way craniosacral therapy helps our bodies process stress and store up emotional energy so that our bodies can once again adapt optimally.

There are many ways to detoxify the body, but always remember to start at the foundation and work your way up! Support your body’s ability to adapt and see how that simple change can help you better detoxify from the inside out.
