The body was created to be nourished in order to thrive and function as it should. Currently, nourishment often comes through supplementation and special products made to appeal to your sense of wanting to take care of your body. Although not all bad, allowing your body to be nourished by your food first and foremost is ideal. Eating a sub par diet and supplementing may get you somewhere, but in order to really heal and make a difference utilizing both will support your body the BEST!
Whole 30 is a reset program designed to help you remove inflammatory foods from your diet and allow your body the time it needs to truly reset. It is also used as an elimination diet, to help you figure out what your body does and does not handle well. The program is 30 days of strict adherence to the guidelines, but is NOT meant to be a long term diet. Life is meant to be enjoyed, within reason, so this reset is meant to be used to:
1. help your body heal from chronic inflammation
2. detoxify
3. nourish your body
4. help you learn what a healthy relationship with food looks like
For 30 days you will be removing:
-all sugars whether real or artificial
-alcohol
-grains
-most legumes
-dairy
Part of this process is learning self-discipline in what you eat and healing your relationship with food. I have done multiple Whole 30’s and each of them has been so beneficial to me. When I truly nourish my body and see the tangible effects, it makes me want to continue feeding my body how it truly wants to be fed! I had an increase in energy levels, improved sleep, less acne, less headaches and less brain fog.
After completing the whole 30 and adding foods back in, it is good to think of an 80/20 balance. Life is not meant to be so restricted all the time, but eating similar to Whole 30 80% of the time and allowing space to enjoy things 20% of the time is a great way to keep a healthy balance!
