As we head into the last part of winter, many people experience Seasonal Affective Disorder. Lack of sunshine, getting outdoors less often, and less movement overall, all contribute to this. All these place stress on your nervous system and in turn, your body. The nervous system is what controls the show when it comes to your body – without it, nothing works. Keeping your nervous system healthy is the best way you can help with the symptoms of SAD.
What is the best way to keep your nervous system healthy? Chiropractic care! The hub of the nervous system is located in the brain and spinal cord and guess where we focus most of our attention on when it comes to chiropractic care? The spine! There was a reason the body was made the way it was – to protect the most precious systems with the hardest bones in the body.
Chiropractic care looks to correct misalignments in the spine to help the nervous system work better – so how does this help with SAD? When you don’t have any energy, sore muscles from not moving, and you don’t feel like you can do anything – we are here to get you moving again. We take a whole-body approach with chiropractic care being at the center. Corrective adjustments to the spine will help the nervous system function better, which will then help the body function better. This will allow you to get moving again and have more energy so you can get back to moving every day.
At our office, we see what SAD does to individuals – so getting them feeling better so they can move more, is essential. We then coach our patients to move in better ways to help keep their body healthy so they can benefit even more from the chiropractic care they receive. Add in some nutritional support and you will be feeling like you are in the middle of summer in no time. So, as we head into the end of winter, do not forget to get your spine checked on a regular basis to make sure your nervous system is working the best it can.
