A morning routine sets the tone for the day, allowing us to control our schedule vs the other way around. We can then focus on what’s ahead of us, so we know where our time needs to be spent. All this increases productivity!
Some ways I have found to help me with my morning routine include the following:
First, get yourself ready the night before. It may mean planning your outfit, prepping a healthy breakfast and lunch – which reduces the need to rush in the morning, especially if you need to help get someone else ready for the day. This may seem difficult at first, but with consistent practice, it will become more routine – saving you time and stress!
Second, do not hit the snooze button. Set the time that you need to be up by and stick with it, as this helps you get quality sleep over quantity.
Third, immediately drink a glass of water to hydrate yourself and begin a slow stretch to wake up your muscles. Once you feel more awake, write in a journal 3 things that you are grateful for. This will set you up to be more positive for the day. Do not reach for your phone or you’ll fall into the trap of checking and responding to social media, emails, and texts.
Forth, jump out of bed and put it all together! Open the blinds to allow any possible natural light to help further awaken your senses. Remember to eat the healthy breakfast you made the night before and maybe put on some calming or invigorating positive music. If possible, do as much as you can before waking the rest of the household.
Integrating these four things into my routine has helped me be more focused, more positive and more productive! I wish you all the same.
