Chiropractic has always been a part of my life, with my Grandfather being a chiropractor and my mother being a chiropractic assistant. I have always been a firm believer in chiropractic and have felt many of its excellent benefits! I am extremely happy to be a part of the wonderful team at Opp Family Chiropractic!
Even as a child I knew I wanted to help people. In sixth grade, my plan was to be a brain surgeon, and I spent several lunch periods dissecting animals that my science teacher had somehow come up with. As I grew up, my heart grew as well, and I was no longer able to handle the thought of how those animals ended up in the science department. By my senior year of high school, I could not even dissect a frog. It did not take me long to realize I would not be a brain surgeon! Or even a doctor. I briefly considered being a nurse, and even a chiropractor, but neither of those options was right for me.
I worked full time as I finished my two-year associate degree and then transferred to St. Cloud State University where I continued going nights and weekends. My major changed from Early Childhood Education to Counseling, to Psychology. I could not decide on a path that seemed right for me. While spending time with my father when he got sick, I was able to reflect on what I really wanted. I wanted to help people. All the majors I had chosen seemed to fit, but something was always missing. That led me to massage. I had a lot of experience with massage – had always felt a connection with it and decided that I was going to take a chance. It was an excellent decision to go to massage school. I have truly found my calling – I’ve been giving massage for 12 years and love every massage that I do!
Outside of massage I also try to find time to volunteer at the local animal rescue, sing karaoke with friends and read. My husband and I have four crazy fur babies and I have one amazing stepson.
Working here has truly brought joy to my life.
